About WAR games

Welcome! Today not about WAR. I would like to add something about free online war games and productions which are divided based on whether they offer the continuous gameplay of real-time strategy (RTS), or the discrete phases of turn-based strategy (TBS). Normally the computer is expected to act as real gamer, a strategically thinking "side" similar to that of an existing player (such as giving orders to armies and manufacturing constructions), or emulate the "instinctive" actions of individual forces that would be too tedious for a particular gamer to administer (such as for a peasant to run away during attack, as opposed to standing still until otherwise ordered by the gamer); hence you need to remember about artificial intelligence.

Traditionally, online war games, have been enjoyed either with miniatures, by using real models of detailed terrain and miniature representations of army and stuff to depict the production state; or on a board, which commonly uses cardboard counters on a hex map. Games offer really complex orders.

The player commands their armies by picking a specific unit, usually by clicking it with the mouse, and giving an order from a menu. Keyboard shortcuts become totally fundamental for advanced players. Units can usually attack, stop, move, hold a position, although in various strategy games you are able to program units how to act.

Even though there are extreme number action games that bring strategic thinking, they are seldom classified as strategy games. A free online war games are normally bigger in scope, and their traditional emphasis is on the player's ability to out-think their opponent. Strategy games not often have also a physical challenge, and rather annoy aspiring generals when they do.

Strategy games have single-player gameplay, multiplayer gameplay, or - which is standard - both of them. Single player games will from time to time also have a campaign mode, which involves a series of matches against numerous of artificial intelligence foes. Finishing each match or mission will advance the game's plot, usually with cut scenes, and some games will reward a completed mission with new abilities or upgrades.

In free online war games victory is gained through superior planning, and the element of opportunity takes a not that impressive role. In plenty of strategy video games, the player is given a top view of the game universe, and indirectly controls gaming units under their wishes.

While strategy games involve strategic, tactical, and often logistical challenges; they are distinct from puzzle games. These types of online war games need magnificent planning during the conflict between players, whereas puzzle games call for thinking in isolation. Strategy games also vary from manufacturing and management simulations, which also have economic challenges without any fight.

Wargames are a subgenre of strategy video games that are exactly like strategic or tactical warfare on a map, as well as historical (or near-historical) show.

This genre of game is an attempt to simulate the wishes and processes inherent to some real-world situation. Amazing part of the mechanics is selected to reflect what the real-life consequences would be of every player action and decision and it’s typical in free online war games. Gamers will have to think about situations that are almost alike to the situations faced by commanders of historical fights. As such, war games are commonly heavy on simulation elements, and while they are normal "strategy games", they can also be "strategic" or "tactical" in the military jargon sense.

Strategy game which every Warhammer fan should try out

Hey guys, today something rare. I will share with you with info about outstanding card-board game named Warhammer Invasion. It's a Living Card Game, so in other words, mix of cards and board gaming stuff. I bought this game approximately year ago and I have to say, that I enjoy it greatly. War invasion game designers had published two full expansions and some battlepacks to it, but I didn't obtained them yet. Why? Because it's fascinating to play with my friends using the same decks. And we are playing a several times per month, so there is no total need. We will buy later these expansions so don't worry.

Every war starts with creating own empire. Your Capital is done, and units and building are starting to show up in your kingdom. Unit and Support cards are able to serve to you in one of your three zones. You will be able to use them, if you will pay for them. Tactic cards are able to sometimes change the way of the battle. If you will give chance to your Units, they will be able to get you huge rewards by doing various Quests. Every card which you are drawing, may be used to develop one of your zones. Developments are often able to unlock some of the special play free online war games abilities of specific cards and give you more attack or either defense skill.

Every of these zones is fundamental, but you have to decide, which of them is most costly and where you want to concentrate your army. Are you going to mainly gather goods in order to become more powerful than your opponent ? Or maybe send your units onto the quest? Maybe you will gather up your mightiest fighters and war machines, to get control over your enemy on the battlefield? These are key decisions for the destiny of your empire. Be wise while making it and you will be a winner. Every race and their combination is a doze of different free online games strategy strategies. Most awesome leader will reveal them all.

Old World are outstanding, massive kingdoms, epic expeditions and tough battles in unending conflict between Order and Destruction. Ancient enemies are fighting between themselves in fierce battles on filled with blood battlefield, where every of sides of conflict is trying to take over the ruling over the whole download free strategy games land. Battle rage is taking armored Orcs, aimed against everything what is alive, even against themselves. Warrior Priests of Sigmar are holding their heavy hammers against corrupted forces of Chaos. Dwarven engineers are checking endurance of their walls and fortifications, in order to defend against invaders. Forces of Destruction coming from the Northern wastelands has only one goal. To destroy everything.

Personally, I just totally enjoy playing Dwarfs and Empire. Dwarfs in this game and just pretty same like in other Warhammer. They are rather defensive race and it's hard to attack free download strategy games enemy in the same scale and that fast as are able Orcs. Empire is just fascinating, actually because they have large number of Tactic cards, which means that they are able to play with the enemy in a great way. Chaos? Chaos is actually weak in basic version of game without expansions.

Warhammer Online future

Are you still playing in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning? I hope you do because I left from Warhammer Online few months ago? Why? First of all if you already hit renown rank 80 you should know that there are no good, high level content available...First of all Warhammer is almost 2 years old and I don't know where exactly this game is going. What EA Mythic is planning or how guys from Bioware are working under upcoming expansion pack for Warhammer Online...How much time then need to release expansion for Warhammer? Another year? Game needs expansion! Almost everyone who is playing in this game know that.

From rumors I know that Warhammer Online is best player vs player game, with perfect realm vs realm, good ideas with scenarios and other cool features like massive amount of careers available for every player. So why game has only 200 thousand players? I wonder how many players joined after this nice idea with Warhammer Online endless trial I think it's great idea but I don't know any numbers. I remember exactly when Warhammer Online had around 1 million players! What an awesome number right?! Yeah it was something, but after few months, or 7-8 months it was like 700,000 later 500,000 and 300,000...Now it's something around 200,000 or 250,000? It's really hard say...EVE Online another great MMORPG has around 300,000 players and player base is getting larger and larger everyday. Why? Because company is releasing very often expansion packs for free and they are working on the game non-stop. I think EVE's producers and developers, from company CCP games are one of the best, hard working and creative game company involved in MMORPG industry :)
Guys from EA or even Blizzard should work on games just like CCP...anyway Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning future should be bright (yeah like Bright Wizard's flame!!!), but it's hard for me exactly more about expansion. It's still good game and I hope EA will make this game top MMORPG? Why? Because I love Warhammer Online but my love is difficult these days...

See you again!

The Magus

The Warhammer Alliance has posted a nice little review on the Magus. Although a quick read, it covers a decent amount of issues that players have. This review offers not only a fairly objective look at the class, but also a nice discussion on the review and class as a whole. Definately worth the read, so check out the full review and join in on the discussion!

Lore & Tactics

"Those selected by the Dark Gods to receive the ability to cast spells are held in high esteem by the tribesmen of the north, for they have been singled out and granted vast and terrible powers. All manner of Daemons are counted amongst the numbers of the Raven Host, but the Magus uses the power of only one such creature: the arcane and powerful Disc of Tzeentch. He is forever bound to this living platform, and it is utterly ruled by his will. Channeling his dark energies through his Disc, mortal and Daemon achieve potent synergy, leaving only devastation in their wake."

Armor new look

Mythic recently announced a major overhaul on armor. Currently, as only phase 1 has been announced, we know that the artwork for end game armor sets are being redone. Will phase 2 contain itemization changes? We won't know until they tell us! So stay tuned and check out all of what Phase 1 entails over at the Herald.

"Below you will find before and after shots for six careers (three Order and three Destruction) in their Sentinel, Conqueror, Darkpromise, and Invader armor set. This is still a work in progress, and the set dye colors are not applied yet, but you should be able to get a good idea of how each set has changed. The teams had two goals in mind: Make each armor set look visually unique, and make the Tier 4 armor sets look as epic as they should for all the effort that goes into obtaining them. We feel they've met these goals and hope you do, too."

Gaarawarr Gabs Mythic's HQ Tour and Josh Interview

GaarawarrGabs has been a very busy man this last week! On his holidays in the US he made plans to hit up Mythic and see what he could score, thankfully MYthic were welcoming with open arms!

Read GaarawarrGabs Blog on the HQ visit here. You'll have to scroll down a bit if you don't want to read about Cedar Point and images of rollercoasters that freak me out!

Before I go into a modified description of our tour, first I have to say thanks to everyone at Mythic that made this possible. Not only did Andy give us a great tour, everyone we ran into was very cool about stopping to say hi and chat for a moment or two before getting right back to work. Everywhere we went, while everyone was very friendly, you could tell they were hard at work. I don’t know that we ran into anyone that looked relaxed, let alone that wasn’t working intently on something. Anyone that thinks that Mythic isn’t working their butts off to make this game the best they can make it has no idea what actually goes on in that building.

It was a lot of fun to be able to meet all the names behind the game that you see on the forums or are referenced by others at times. It was also very cool to walk around the offices and see all the artwork. Walls are lined with everything from concepts to finished products. Man, there are some things in there that make me wish they sold prints. :) We must have spent 30-45 minutes just staring in awe at the art as we walked around the different areas of the studio. We even got a bit of a sneak-peak at the recently-announced Wild Hunt Live Event coming later this summer. I have to say, I get more and more impressed with the Live Event team every time I see their work. This is definitely going to be a legendary Live Event.

WARHerald: Guild Zone Capture Rewards!

An update from Andy over on the Herald wields some excitement for guilds and keep capture!

Greetings!

To complement our recent improvements of zone capture rewards we have implemented more incentives for a Guild to successfully capture and hold a Keep.

Guilds that successfully hold a Tier 4 Keep through a zone capture will now have a Gold Bag containing Annihilator armor rewards mailed to the Guild Master. Each successive zone capture within the same pairing will result in another Gold Bag being mailed to the Guild Master. The Guild Master may then distribute the Gold Bag(s) to his or her guild members. Guilds that hold a Tier 4 Keep in a pairing whose Fortress is successfully conquered by their realm will then receive a Gold Bag containing Conqueror armor rewards. This Gold Bag is also tradable to guild members.

So defend those keeps! For glory, for Renown and now for more rewards!

IGN Vault Changes

The following is a letter from Staci "Rosethorn" Krause, IGN Vault Editor in Chief. Hi everyone, There are some big changes afoot at IGN and for the first time, Vault is really being affected by them, but I think in a very positive way. The most important change to relay is that I am no longer the Editor in Chief of Vault Network. Instead, Teddy Pierson, who has previously been in charge of Vault community sites, will be taking the helm once again. He will continue to run the Planets and all future IGN Community sites as well as the IGN Community Site Manager. My position has changed and I am now the Community Outreach Manager for all of IGN. You are part of that community, so I’ll be doing plenty of reaching out to you as well. The MMO community is an integral part of the IGN Community as a whole and I hope everyone will embrace the idea of being an important part of a larger community.

My new position retains some of my old responsibilities, like getting together with developers to host developer chats or developer diaries. But some new exciting things will happen now that I can focus on community initiatives, like hosting competitions, and I plan to include the MMO community in those initiatives. I have some big plans for the future of IGN community and that includes every one of you.

You can read about all the staffing changes on Jeremy Dunham’s recent Letter from the Editor. Also, to follow all the community initiatives I’ll be working on, add me to your blog friends. Join me in welcoming Teddy back to the fold – his job has just gotten so much bigger!

Thank you everyone for your support the last couple of years and I just know IGN Community Sites have a bright future.

Staci “Rosethorn” Krause

GOA Introduces "Wildcard" system

Each account is granted three Wildcards per rolling year which may be used for any of the following:

Wrong Server Transfer
A player has moved his character from server A to server B, but actually wanted to move it to server C.
If the player choose to use a Wildcard, we’ll move the character from B to C. Note that C needs to be a destination server from A to qualify for a Wildcard to be used and that this system is in place to help players who reported their transfer mistake promptly.

Mistaken Guild Transfer
A Guild Leader has transferred his character, but forgot to use the /transferguild command beforehand.
If the player choose to use a Wildcard, we will restore his old character on the source server (and delete the one on the new server). The Guild Leader then has the chance to use the /transferguild command and then transfer his character again via the character transfer option on our website.

Item bought by mistake
A player has bought an item (usually expensive) by mistake - e.g. he clicked twice when buying a mount. If the player choose to use a Wildcard, we’ll destroy the item and reimburse the money. If the second item has already been sold we'll reimburse the gold lost in the process.

Influence Rewards
A player has selected the wrong influence reward. If the player choose to use a Wildcard, we’ll destroy the item and grant the influence reward the player wanted.

Need/Greed in instances
Player A has mistakenly hit "Need" instead of "Greed" in the loot roll in an instance, and got an item that he didn’t really want; on the other hand, player B selected "Need" but did not receive the item. In this case, player A can choose to use a Wildcard to fix his mistake and give the item to player B.
Please note that this will only apply to loot rolls in instances.

Remember that only three (3) Wildcards per account are given every rolling year. With this in mind, consider each Wildcard use with great care before you go ahead - perhaps a more pressing use for it will come along in the near future! If you are certain that you want to use one of your Wildcards, please make this very clear in your Customer Service ticket.

Few words about commercials

Mr. T, William Shatner, that little guy from Austin Powers (Verne Troyer) and now Chuck Norris? Seems like the odds are all stacked in World of Warcraft's favor...so why would Warhammer even try to compete against the giant?

No doubt there are complaints, and anyone who has been around MMOs (Massively Multiplayer Online games) or really any online game knows that at one point or another... a portion of the game population will rant about imbalances, broken this and thats, and the desperate need to nerf something.

I haven't played either of the previously mentioned failed MMOs, but I did play WoW (World of Warcraft) for two years. The gold standard of MMOs, and though the game is lionized (and rightly so) any WoW player will tell you that there was never a more angry, ugly and petty community in existence than those who inhabited the WoW boards.

The editorial continues with Daggoo's explanation for this strange phenomenon.

Mythic Features the Witch Hunter

Welcome! As GOA Community Managers, we always keep an eye on the WAR player community's forums and blogs. We especially love reading threads about the game's different careers, suggestions on how to play them, how useful they are, and their pros and cons.

This time around, we have interviewed some expert Witch Hunter players, as we have done in the past with the Rune Priest and Chosen careers.

“Wrapped in his long jacket and molded soft leather armor, and concealed by the shadows, he slowly approached the unsuspecting target with ashen stakes at the ready. His emotionless face was partially hidden by his wide-brimmed hat; his eyes were cold and lethal as the weapons he was holding. He crept closer, as silent and icy as the snow. With a quick gesture, he ran the victim through the back. The unaware prey fell down writhing in pain. His gaze was impassive, and in an instant, all that remained was the echo of a gunshot lingering in the air.”

Do you like hunting? Do you not like Witches? Well then how about being a Witch Hunter. Mythic and GOA have combed the community and are featuring some expert Witch Hunters.

Also we have our very own Witch Hunter feature and our Witch Hunter guide.

Daemilien's WAR Reports: City Sieges

So mythic has mad many changes to RvR since the release of WARHAMMER... one of their big changes was city sieges. See how some of your fellow WAR players feel about the current state of the city sieges.

Sneak Peak:

1. Rotating PQ's Lots of variety keeps things fresh (I want to see Battle for Praag tug of war in IC / Mass escorts where you need to kill the enemy hero before they kill yours).

2. The city siege is open for 24 hours (giving everyone a chance to do it) but the instance is locked out during the server offpeak hours or maybe the guards increase during the nightwatch to such a level as too make it near impossible.

3. Random Instance (currently going in)

4. One hour maybe its 6) need a safety net on this if you return with 15 minutes (post crash) it will let you resum in the instance you were in before. Also if you leave when there is less opposition then there should be no penalty (enabling those who want to defend all instances to still do it)

Do enjoy!

James Nichols on EU and US Forums

Welcome! James kindly stopped in this morning (so early!!) on our Warhammer Board to drop us a word regarding seperate EU forums and how Mythic will make sure information flows between both EU and US sides of the pond.

Hi guys,

Firstly, I can understand your concerns and they are technical hurdles that we have considered from the start.

Myself and the community team will be working closely with GOA to see that important information is shared and reciprocated across all forums, we'll also work with the development team and look at the different options we have for participation.

We'll also look to share the feedback both ourselves and GOA are receiving from the community and utilize the benefits of having official forums to the fullest extent.

Having separate forums allows both ourselves and GOA to better serve the support needs of our individual communities. GOA manages multiple nations, each of which is their own separate community to a degree that have their own needs unique to their environment. Ultimately we want to be able to react more swiftly should a problem arise, already that is a challenge when we have many posts coming from all corners.

We also look to continue our participation on community sites such as the Vault here and hold developer chats that are open to everyone. Managing our own forums will in fact allow us to interact with these sites in a way that's better for everyone as the staff and ourselves can work to provide more feature-rich content like interviews and occasional videos.

We're by no means looking to isolate our global community, but we want to ensure we're able to support the needs of our players to the best of our ability and that means having forum accounts tied directly to our individual account centers for ease of access and quick reference when providing support as well as moderation teams that can assist the individual language communities that make up our playerbase.

We'll see how things are going, and if there is room for improvement we'll work to close that gap. And I am always open to suggestions and constructive criticism so please drop me a line if you have any ideas to offer once we're underway."

Thanks guys
